RV Road Trip: Amish Country + DC + Virginia

The Amish are a people known for their simple lifestyle and the reluctance to adopt modern amenities. At a time when the baker's yeast was rare and not always available to the common baker needed a way to make bread without depending on the baker's yeast. In those days people used sourdough bread, characterized by its bitter taste and beer-like smell, but not all types of sourdough bread are very sour, one of these breads are sourdough bread Amish. The bread was made from holders of sourdough, yeast cultures grown in the starter for a long period of time while stored in a cool, dark place.
When they wanted to make the bread they would take the starter and mix with flour, water and sugar. This is the reason why Amish sourdough is not sour, but adding more sugar to the recipe adds a sweater. Other flavorings can be added to the dough to make the taste different.
The sourdough is not special only by its bitter taste, is special because it's often associated with the simple things in life, remembering that not everything has to be complicated and industrial Some people may wonder why make a bread that takes more than a week with yeast, when agents are available baker's yeast in a day or why make bread all when available in every supermarket. Naturally, we show that we do not have to run all, nature does not rush anything right and everything is done.
